Tolentino snubs MMDA strikers

Employees and workers of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) had stage a strike Monday after they protested for not releasing the benefit which they claim are being withheld by the administration of Chairman Francis Tolentino.
Hundreds of workers of the agency who belong to the  Kapisanan para sa Kagalingan ng mga Kawani sa Kalakhang Maynila (KKK) had stage a walk-out strike yesterday to air their demand to the MMDA official.
The said strike was the second attempt by the workers after they tried last Monday to dialog with Tolentino  but was prevented by the security personnel during the flag ceremony. They attempted it for the second time yesterday and succeeded.
It was only yesterday when the group surprised security personnel when they display their placards hitting MMDA officials for not giving their rightful benefits entitled to them.
According to a rallyist who requested anonymity, they are demanding that the Collective Negotiation Agreement (CAN) that the agency should have released since 2011 the cash incentive which was agreed by both the worker union and the leadership.
The KKK serves as the union of employees of the MMDA.
It was learned that amount of benefits has reached P220 million for all MMDA employees and for no reason Tolentino refused to abide and comply with the agreement.
According to an informant, the money which is due to employees was used to finance other projects.
There were also other reports reaching the union that the money was allegedly deposited in the bank to earn interest for the benefit of some erring MMDA officials.
During yesterday strike there were no officials who talked to them where they vow to stage picket daily in front of the MMDA building.
